Cybister lateralimarginalis
Cybisters are good swimmers. On this picture the big thorn like appendages on the hind legs
are well visible. Under the claw of the middle leg you can see the big, plate-like hip that is
attached to the body (the acoxa). The light spot in that plate is one of the air spaces that is
visible through the transparent body.
This beetle is an easy, relaxed swimmer. When it moves close to the bottom it surprisingly makes
more use of the smaller middle legs.
